| At Sterlingcraft, 100% pure Nickel is used for plating non silverplated items. For base metals are used Iron, Steel, Brass and Zinc. The special Sterlingcraft Nickel plated finish is guaranteed to never tarnish. Our items are commonly known as German Silver. The Germans invented a special alloy - by blending Nickel, Copper and Zinc - which has the look of silver but will never tarnish. The Nickel actually gives the silver-color and tarnish-proof finish but it must be combined with Cooper and Zinc if it is to be used for solid forged pieces. Sterlingcraft trays are plated and therefore are able to use 100% pure Nickel. |
